Lady Eagles Split With #20 Grand View
Fayette, Mo. The Central Methodist University Lady Eagles softball team split their Sunday conference doubleheader with the 20th ranked Grand View University Vikings. CMU won game one by a final of 7-3, before falling in game two 5-3.

With the split, Central Methodist University moves to 23-12 overall and 4-2 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the split, the 20th ranked Vikings move to 24-6 overall, and 8-2 in The Heart.



The Vikings struck first in game one in the top of the second inning, plating the games' first run on an RBI double to give Grand View the early 1-0 lead.

Central Methodist would respond in a big way, scoring six runs in the bottom half of the third inning, on five hits, and taking advantage of three errors made by Grand View. The six-run third inning was enough to help CMU cruise to a 7-3 game one victory.

Lady Eagles' starter Haley Kinnison (Lee's Summit, Mo.) went all seven innings, while allowing just three runs; two earned on four hits, to go along with eight strikeouts and four walks in the victory (10-4).

Offensively, the Lady Eagles were led by Hannah Blackmon's (Beaumont, Texas) 2-for-4 day at the plate with two RBI's and one run scored. Bailey Fidler (Pleasant Hill, Mo.) finished 1-for-4 at the plate with three RBI's and one run scored.

In game two, the Vikings would strike for an early run in the top of the first-inning, and never look back in their 5-3 win.

Lady Eagles' starting pitcher Erin Enke (Martinez, Calif.) had a rough outing, lasting 5.2 innings in the loss (9-5), while allowing five runs on four hits, with five walks and just four strikeouts.

Offensively in game two, the Lady Eagles were led by their 9-1-2 hitters of Sydnie Harmon (Raymore, Mo.), Skyler Hime (Raymore, Mo.), and Jessie Wilmes (Flint Hill, Mo.), who combined to finished 4-for-8 at the plate with two RBI's, three walks, and two runs scored.

The Lady Eagles take the week off, before returning to action on Saturday, when they host Culver-Stockton College in a Heart doubleheader beginning at 1pm at the Cox Softball Complex.
