Cross Country competes in NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede

Cedar Rapids, Iowa - The Central Methodist men's and women's cross country teams competed in the 2020 NAIA Seminole Valley Stampede, hosted by fellow Heart member Mount Mercy University Saturday morning at Seminole Valley Park in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. 

The field featured 25 teams comprised of both the NAIA and NJCAA, including almost 450 total runners. The CMU men finished in 17th place out of 25 teams, while the women placed 19th. 

The women began the day with the 5K race and senior Lisa Sauter led the Eagles with a 30th place finish in a time of 19:23.8. Madeline Wieseman posted a time of 20:11.6 to come away in 58th place and Katelyn Moeller was the third Eagle to cross the finish line in a time of 21:26.4. Katherine Bangert and Kailey Johnson rounded out CMU's top-five with times of 22.07.1 and 23.27.1 respectively. 

On the men's side, Radovan Kemboi nearly cracked the Top-10, finishing with a time of 25.47 in the 8K, good enough for 11th place. Exavier Coburn, Zy'Shonne Cowans, Matthew Barker, and Jake Sanders all rounded out the final five runners for CMU. 

Emma Wilson of Huntington won the individual title in the 5K with a time of 16:24.6, 1:17 faster than the entire field. The Huntington women also took home the team championship with a score of 71, as three runners finished in the Top-8. The men followed suit and claimed the team title in the 8K, finishing with 34 points. Four of Huntington's five runners placed in the Top-10.
