Kemboi Wins Conference Championship, Knernschield Finishes 6th

FAYETTE, Mo. — On his own turf, Radovan Kemboi (JR/Eldoret, Ken.) crossed the finish line first with a time of 25:45.01 in the Heart Men's Cross Country Championship on Saturday morning, beating the next closest competitor by seven seconds.

He was joined on the All-Conference team by Elliot Knernschield (SR/Jefferson City, Mo.), who improved on a 14th place finish last season by finishing in sixth place on Saturday with a time of 26:29.06.

"I was incredibly excited to see Radovan win the individual championship, and for Elliot to have run so well and qualified for nationals on this course," said coach Mark Nelson. "This is a tough course for them to compete on and for them to compete as well as they did is encouraging both for the upcoming national meet and indoor track season."

As a team, the Eagles placed 7th out of 12 teams. Up next will be the NAIA Cross Country Championship held in Vancouver, Wash. on Friday, Nov. 22. Official qualifiers for the big event will be announced by the National Office on November 12th.
