Eagle Men Finish Ninth At Southern Stampede

Joplin, Mo. – The Central Methodist University men's cross country team took part in the Southern Stampede Cross Country Invitational on Saturday morning in Joplin, hosted by Missouri Southern State University. The Eagles placed ninth out of 17 teams.

"The men had a good day today," said CMU Director of Cross Country Mark Nelson. "This was the first time at the full 8k distance for most of them, and many actually rank personal bests for 5k within the race. I think they will continue to get better every time they race."

As a team Central Methodist finished in ninth place, with a total time of 2:21:04.01. Individually, Elliot Knernschield (FR/Jefferson City, Mo.) led the Eagles for the third straight race, finishing in 19th place with a total time of 27:15.12. Michael Neeley (JR/Kansas City, Mo.) finished in 40th place, with a total time of 28:01.15

The Eagles have a few weeks now to prepare for the Midwest Cross Country Invitational, hosted by Avila University in Kansas City, Missouri on the morning of October 8th.
