Marshall, Mo. - The No. 15-ranked Central Methodist University men's wrestling team turned in several strong individual performances at the Missouri Valley Open Saturday, highlighted by a championship run from heavyweight Austin Foye and a runner-up finish by Gavin Shoush.

Foye, the No. 1 ranked wrestler in the country at 285 pounds, delivered the Eagles' top performance of the day, capturing the heavyweight title with a dominant 4-0 record. After opening with a bye, Foye posted back-to-back decision wins to reach the semifinals before securing a fall over Wilbert Martin of Texas Wesleyan. He closed out the championship with a decisive 7-1 victory over Kazz Hyson of Graceland, earning a first-place finish. 

Shoush put together an impressive run to the finals, finishing second overall in the 149 pound bracket. He recorded three wins on the day, including two technical falls in the early rounds and an 11-7 decision victory in the semifinals against Chance Hensley of Drury. He fell in the championship bout to Caiden Saavedra of Williams Baptist.

At 141 pounds, Drew Cooper opened the tournament in dominant fashion with back-to-back first-period falls to advance to the quarterfinals. 

Landon Morris (149) battled through the consolation bracket, earning two bonus-point victories. Morris secured a fall over Ethan Franklin of Missouri Valley and followed it up with a technical fall against Gavin Holland of Texas Wesleyan before being eliminated later in the round.

Peyton Asbury (157) put together a strong consolation run, winning three straight matches after an opening-round loss. Asbury earned victories by decision, technical fall, and fall to advance through the bracket before narrowly falling in the fourth consolation round.

At 174 pounds, Gabe Kiddoo opened the tournament with two wins, including a fall and a tiebreaker decision, before running into tough opposition in the championship bracket. 

Central will turn its attention to the postseason, beginning with the Heart of America Conference Championships the weekend of Feb. 20 on the William Penn campus in Oskaloosa, Iowa.
