No. 15 Men’s Wrestling Tops (RV) Baker in Baldwin City

Baldwin City, Kan. - The No. 15 Central Methodist men's wrestling team turned in a strong road performance Thursday night, earning a 34–12 victory over (RV) Baker behind three falls and key wins up and down the lineup.

The Wildcats struck first at 125 pounds as No. 16 Saoul Prado picked up a 6–2 decision over Luis Acevedo. CMU answered quickly, and at 133, Gavin Alexander knocked off No. 16 Nat'aani Prado with an 11–5 decision to even the dual.

The Eagles then grabbed their first lead at 141 when Drew Cooper collected a forfeit.

Baker regained momentum at 149 as No. 7 Nikolas Slatoff earned an 11–4 decision over Alex Walker. However, CMU took control from there, as Drake Jenkins posted a 10–3 decision at 157, followed by a dominant 16–4 major decision from No. 25 Eric Hodge at 165 to extend the Eagles' advantage.

Central put the dual out of reach with back-to-back pins. At 174, No. 4 Roman Garcia needed just 59 seconds to secure a fall over Keegan Troutman, and Griffin Ray followed with a pin of No. 25 Eli Messik at 184 in 1:01.

Baker picked up its final points via forfeit at 197, but the Eagles closed the night emphatically in the heavyweight bout. No. 1 Austin Foye capped the evening with a win via fall in just 33 seconds over Elijah Eslinger at 285.

Central will conclude its dual schedule with a hightly touted matchup against No. 10 Missouri Valley College Thursday, Feb. 5 at 7:00 p.m. in Marshall, Missouri.
