St. Louis, Mo. - The No. 17 Central Methodist Men's Wrestling team opened the New Year with competition at the Dr. Tom Smith Invitational Saturday in St. Louis. 

The 16-team tournament was hosted by future Heart member Missouri Baptist University and featured schools from Illinois, Arkansas, Missouri, Kansas, Iowa, and Kentucky. 

Freshman Alex Husen posted a fourth place finish in the 149 pound weight class with a 3-2 record. Redshirt senior James Griffin returned to competition for the first time this year and placed third at 157 pounds. 

The native of St. Louis, Missouri tallied five wins, all coming via Tech Fall.

The duo of Sincere Hall-Osbourne and Trey Duhon posted second and third place finishes respectively in the 184 pound bracket.

Freshman Jacob Ruff went a perfect 5-0 at the 197 pound weight class en route to a championship finish. 

Central will next travel to Atchison, Kansas to take on Benedictine College for a dual on Friday, Jan. 17. Wrestling will start at 7:00 p.m.
