Oskaloosa, Iowa - It was a historic day for the Central Methodist men's wrestling program, as the Eagles competed in the Heart of America Athletic Conference Men's Wrestling Championship, hosted by William Penn University Saturday afternoon in Oskaloosa Iowa. | COMPLETE RESULTS

The Eagles concluded the event with a sixth place finish, scoring 53 teams points. Grand View once again claimed the team title, with 216.5 points, followed by Missouri Valley College (146.5), Graceland (121.5), Baker (113) and Dickinson State (67).

The highlight of the day for CMU came in the 285-pound weight class, as sophomore grappler Brenden Shelton posted a 4-1 recored en route to a third place finish. With the Top-3 finish, Shelton becomes the first wrestler in program history to qualify for the NAIA Men's Wrestling National Championships, set for March 5-6 in Wichita, Kan. The Colon, Mich. native will enter nationals with a 16-2 overall record.

Sophomore grappler Andrew Godier just missed the podium with a fourth place showing at 141-pounds, while both Alex Drmac (197-pounds) and Cody Imbierowicz posted fifth place finishes.
