Kansas City, Mo. - After a stellar week of competition, Central Methodist sophomore Rimon Beyene was named the Heart of America Men's Soccer Defensive Player of the Week by the conference office on Monday.
It marks the first weekly honor for the native of Frankfurt, Germany.
Beyene helped lead the Eagles to a 2-0 week, including wins over No. 25 Missouri Valley and No. 21 Clarke.
He anchored both defenses to shut out wins, in which the defense allowed, on average, just five shots/game.
Beyene also recorded an assist on CMU's second goal against Clarke on Saturday.
The Eagles are now 4-2-3 overall and 2-1-2 in the Heart of America.
They will next play Missouri Baptist on Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
