Fayette, Mo. - Central Methodist Head Men's Soccer Coach Adam Galla has announced the hiring of Ignacio Milla as the new assistant coach for the program.
"I'm very excited to have Coach Milla on our staff," said Galla. "He brings a great deal of experience at the NAIA level and is a fantastic coach. We are very fortunate to have one of the best young coaches working in collegiate soccer today."
Milla joins the Eagles after spending two seasons as the Head Women's Soccer Coach at Bethel College in Newton, Kansas. While leading the Threshers, Milla coached four KCAC All-Conference selections.
Before Bethel, Coach Milla spent two seasons at national power Oklahoma Wesleyan in Bartlesville, Oklahoma.
During the 2022 season, the OKWU Women's team finished with a 21-1-1 record and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament for the first time in 43 years. The team broke program records of total goals scored, games won, and shutouts. They were ranked as high as No. 6 in the national polls.
The team won both the KCAC Regular Season and the Conference Tournament for the fourth consecutive year, remaining unbeaten in conference for four seasons.
It marked the best season for the program in school history.
During his first year at Oklahoma Wesleyan, the women's team broke the single-season wins record. The year ended with the team advancing to the second round of the NAIA National Tournament.
Ignacio also assisted the men's team as goalkeepers coach in 2021. The team won both the KCAC Regular Season and Tournament Championship and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NAIA National Tournament.
Milla, originally from Santiago, Chile, attended Lyon College, where he graduated with a double major in business and economics and a minor in physical education. He was a four-year starter for the Scots, earning three AMC All-Conference selections.
After college, he joined the National Premier Soccer League and, in 2017, was named the NPSL North Player of the Year.
Prior to joining the Eagles, Milla built an extensive coaching resume. He was previously the Head Coach for the semi-pro club Arkansas Wolves of the National Premier Soccer League. As Head Coach, he led the Wolves to the conference playoffs in their first year as a program. As a result, Coach Milla earned a Coach of the Year nomination.
Milla served as a Graduate Assistant at William Woods for the 2020-21 school year. Before that, he was an assistant coach at Lyon College, where the Scots set a school record for wins and earned an automatic bid to the 2019 NAIA National Tournament.
