Fayette, Mo. - The No. 22 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program came back from a one goal defecit to secure a 1-1 tie against Park University Wednesday night at Davis Field.
Central now stands at 9-1-1 and 3-1-1 in the Heart of America while the Pirates are 5-2-2 and 2-2-1 in conference action.
CMU found themselves in a 1-0 hole after the Pirates scored on a set piece less than two minutes before the halftime break. Central, who managed only three shots in the first half, cranked up the offensive pressure in the final 45.
The Eagles responded well in the second half, tallying seven shots and earning three corner kicks. With less than nine minutes left, a Pirates' foul resulted in an Eagles' free kick from 18 yards out.
Senior Cesar Cuellar took the free kick and sent the ball over the Pirates' defense, finding the top left corner of the net for the equalizer.
Niccolo Cabras had a busy evening in between the posts, as the sophomore goalkeeper tallied seven total saves in a full 90 minutes of action. He improved his overall goalkeeper record to 9-1-1.
The Eagles remain at home to host Mount Mercy University Saturday, Oct. 5 at 7:30 p.m. at Davis Field.
