Kansas City, Mo. - Seven members of the No. 3 Central Methodist Men's Soccer program earned Heart All-Conference honors, along with three Heart superlative award winners.
The Eagles led the conference with four Heart First Team All-Conference selections, and tied with MidAmerica Nazarene for the most selections overall with seven.
Highlighting the major award winners was senior defender Jesse Bank, who was named the Heart Defensive Player of the Year in addition to a First Team All-Conference selection. It marks the fourth-straight season that an Eagle has earned the award.
The native of Kruiningen, Netherlands finished the regular season with four goals and one assist in 17 matches and 13 starts. Bank led Central's defensive backline to seven shut out victories.
Freshman goalkeeper Beer De Vos was tabbed as the Heart Freshman of the Year and a Heart Second-Team All Conference performer. De Vos appeared and started in 14 matches this season, posting an 11-0-3 overall record including seven clean sheets. Altogether, the Amstelveen, Netherlands native tallied 27 saves and recorded a 0.72 goals against average.
The final Heart Superlative award winner was Head Coach Alex Nichols, who was honored as the Coach of the Year for the fifth consecutive season. Nichols and his staff led Central to their fifth-straight regular season conference championship, posting a 12-0-5 mark including a 9-0-3 record in the Heart.
Tom Irion, Basil Erne, and Stefano Campisi joined Bank on the Heart All-Conference First Team.
Irion appeared in 16 games with 13 starts this fall, notching four goals and tallying two assists. The 2020 NAIA First Team All-American joined Bank on the backline, anchoring CMU to seven shut outs.
Erne is now a two-time Heart First Team All-Conference selection, as he was also recognized during his freshman season in 2021. Erne also served as a key piece to Central's defensive wall, appearing and starting in all 17 of CMU's matches.
Campisi rounds out the First Team All-Conference selections. He is currently tied for the team lead with seven goals in addition to five assists. Campisi has appeared in every match so far this season for Central, making 12 starts.
Senior midfielder Mark Csongradi was recognized as a Heart Second Team All-Conference selection, after appearing in 16 of Central's 17 matches this season. Csongradi recorded one goal and two assists, including the game-winner against Park on Oct. 8.
Sophomore Jeremiah Johnson is the final Eagle to earn All-Conference honors, as the Columbia, Mo. native landed on the Second Team. He has appeared in all 17 matches, including six starts. So far this season, Johnson has tallied three goals with six assists for a total of 12 points.
Central will serve as the No. 1 seed in the upcoming Heart Conference Tournament, and will host No. 8 Mount Mercy in the quarterfinals Saturday, Nov. 5 at 1:00 p.m. at Davis Field.
