No. 1 Eagles Thump Evangel

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The No. 1 Central Methodist University men's soccer program earned its 10th shutout of the season in a dominating victory over Evangel University on Wednesday evening.

Carlos Scheckermann (FR/Reus, Spain) recorded his first hat trick of the season after recording one goal in the first half and back-to-back goals in under a minute during the second half.

Marcos German (SO/Madrid, Spain) chipped in with a goal of his own and four assists, tieing the school record for assists in a single game. Victor Luengo (SO/Madrid, Spain) also added one goal and a pair of supporters. Mark Csongradi (SO/Szekesferhervar, Hungary) and Daniel Hernandez (SO/Bogota, Colombia) rounded out the scoring as each contributed one goal and one assist apiece. Vince Gelei (SR/Dunakeszi, Hungary) earned the win in the box with one save through 68 minutes of play.

Central dominated all aspects of the stat sheet as the defense held the Crusaders to just two shot attempts while the offense launched 22 tries (14 on target). The Eagles also recorded 17 corner kicks while holding Evangel to just one.

Up next for the squad will be their final home game of the regular season against No. 17 Baker University on Saturday (October 19th) to close out a busy Homecoming Weekend. Game time is set for 8:30 PM on Davis Field.
