FAYETTE, Mo. ---- The No. 14 nationally ranked Central Methodist men's soccer team drew to (RV) Grand View University Saturday night.
NOTES
• Both teams played with only 10 players for the entire second half and both overtime periods with early dismissals.
STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Paulo Vac scored the lone goal for the Eagles with his only shot of the match.
• Leonardo Ferri led the Eagles with seven shots during the game, and he put two on frame.
• Santiago Sierra added three shots with two on goal, as well as an assist on Vac's goal.
• Vince Gelei tallied five saves in goal to preserve the draw.
• Simone Raiola paced the Vikings with four shots, and the lone goal for his team on an assist from Claudio Repetto.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• In the 12th minute of the match, Grand View took an early 1-0 lead on a cross from Repetto that found the head of Raiola for the goal.
• Both teams finished the first half with eight shots, however both teams would play the remainder of the match a man down.
• Central Methodist dominated offensively in the second half, outshooting Grand View 12-2.
• In the 82nd minute of the match, Central Methodist broke through on a goal from Claudio that was assisted by Sierra to tie the game at 1-1.
• At the end of regulation, the score remained 1-1.
• Neither team acquired a shot in the first overtime period, however both teams added two shots each in the second period of extra time. Neither Grand View or Central Methodist were able to finalize the golden goal, to finish in a 1-1 tie.
INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• Central Methodist outshot Grandview 22-12 throughout the match.
• Grand View tallied five saves in goal, while Central Methodist had five.
• Central Methodist held the advantage in corner kicks 10-1 over Grand View.
