Men's Soccer Defeats Saint Ambrose in Offensive Display

DAVENPORT, Iowa - The Central Methodist men's soccer team defeated Saint Ambrose University 3-0 Saturday night after two goals from senior Leonardo Ferri.

NOTES
• The two goals from Ferri mark his first of the 2017 campaign.
• Central Methodist improved to 2-1 on the year, while Saint Ambrose fell to 0-2.

STANDOUT PERFORMERS
• Ferri totaled three shots during the game including the two goals.
Guzman Pery and Jackson Darnell each tallied an assist in the game.
Santiago Sierra added the final goal for the Eagles on a header that found the back of the net.
• Nicolas Vizuete paced Saint Ambrose offensively, providing a team-high two shots, and placed both on frame.

HOW IT HAPPENED
• The first thirty minutes of the match did not yield a goal from either side. However in the 38th minute, Ferri put the Eagles ahead 1-0 after an unassisted goal.
• Just before the half, a cross from Pery found Sierra in the box who was able to finish the header to give Central Methodist a 2-0 lead heading into halftime.
• Central Methodist kept the momentum rolling in the second half with Ferri's second goal of the match just 1:40 after the break. Darnell found Ferri open down the field to give the Eagles a 3-0 lead.
• Central Methodist dominated on both sides of the ball, and allowed just three shots in the game, two of which were in the second half.
• Marx tallied two saves in the second half to preserve the 3-0 win, and his first clean sheet of the season.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
• The Eagles totaled 15 shots with 11 on goal in the match.
• The Fighting Bees managed three shots with two on frame.
• The Eagles held the advantage in corner kicks over the Fighting Bees 10-2.

• The Eagles will return to action next Saturday, September 9th, when they host No. 25 Hannibal-LaGrange University. Kickoff is set for 5 p.m.
