Dubuque, Iowa – The Central Methodist University men's soccer team won their fourth straight match on Saturday afternoon, by defeating Clarke University by a final of 3-0 in Dubuque, Iowa.

With the victory, Central Methodist; who are currently receiving votes in the latest NAIA Men's Soccer Coaches' Top 25 Poll, improve to 8-2-1 overall and 4-1 in Heart of America Athletic Conference play. With the loss, Clarke University falls to 1-8 overall and 0-4 in The Heart.

"It's a tough place to play, but we found a way to get the job done, which is always a positive," said CMU head men's soccer coach Alex Nichols. "We need to step it up on a lot of levels though. We have a tough set of games coming up, so there is no time to be content."

Central Methodist jumped on the scoreboard early on Saturday, when Adrian Gutierrez (SO/Santa Cruz de Tenerife, Spain) found Ricardo Olaya (JR/Bogota, Colombia) for the game's first goal in the 13th minute. That would be the only goal scored by either team in the first 45 minutes of play, and CMU would take a 1-0 lead into halftime.

In the second half, the duo of Gutierrez and Olaya would work yet again, as Adrian Gutierrez found Ricardo Olaya for the game's second goal in the 58th minute. CMU would not stop there, as in the 87th minute Vitor Maia (SO/Salvador, Brazil) connected on a pass to Jackson Darnell (SO/Perth, Western Australia, Aust) for another Eagles goal, giving CMU a 3-0 lead. Central would hold on to win by that margin.

Cameron Metcalfe (SO/Durham, England) was solid once again for the Eagles between the pipes, stopping all five shots he faced. Metcalfe helped lead the Eagles to their fourth straight win Saturday, and finished a solid week of allowing just one goal in 180 minutes played.

The Eagles close out their four game roadtrip this Wednesday, when they travel to Baldwin City, Kansas to face the 10th ranked Baker University Wildcats. The match is schedule to begin at 8:30pm. CMU comes home to Davis Field next Sunday October 9th, to host William Penn University at 2pm.
