Hannibal, Mo. – The Central Methodist University men's soccer team hit the road Saturday afternoon to face Hannibal-LaGrange University in a non-conference match. The Eagles and Trojans played two overtime periods and finished in 0-0 draw.
With the tie, Central Methodist moves to 1-0-1 on the season, while Hannibal-LaGrange University begins the year 0-0-1.
The Eagles played a man down for all but the first six minutes in the match Saturday because of an early red card called on the Eagles. CMU was forced to play the majority of the match 10 vs 11, and subsequently were outshot by the Trojans on 12-9.
In a game that featured aggressive play, no goals were able to squeak past either of the keepers. In total, there were three cards and 42 fouls in the match.
Eagles' goalie Cameron Metcalfe (SO/Durham, England) has yet to allow a goal this season in 155 minutes played. On Saturday, Metcalfe stopped all six shots he faced.
CMU returns to home Wednesday evening to host Tabor College at 7:30pm at Davis Field. The women will precede the men's match at 5pm.
