Eagles Win Late At Mount Mercy
Cedar Rapids, Iowa Central Methodist University men's soccer team scored really early and really late Tuesday night to claim a season opening 2-1 victory on the road at Mount Mercy University in double-overtime.

"The guys played well tonight," said CMU head coach Alex Nichols. "Mount Mercy will likely be the best team in their conference, so it was a good win for our guys. We played real hard and had a lot of positives to take from the game. We also have lots to work on of course and we will improve as we get ready for Bethel,"

With the victory, the Eagles improve to 1-0 on the young season, while Mount Mercy falls to 0-1 on the season.

The Eagles got on the scoreboard first Tuesday evening in the games third minute. David Hillmann connected on a nice pass from Rafael Ortiz-Ferreira to put CMU up 1-0. That score would hold as the teams headed into the locker room at halftime.

In the second half, the Mustangs from Mount Mercy got on the scoresheet in the 56th minute thanks to Yinka Ajibola. His goal tied the game at one a piece.

It was evident as the game went on, that 90 minutes was not going to decide a winner.

In overtime, David Hillmann found the back of the net for the second time, thanks to Guilherme Gallucci. The goal came in the 104th minute to capture the season opening victory for the Eagles.

Eagles' goalkeeper Ferran Borras Marques (1-0) picked up the victory, while making four saves and allowing just one goal.

CMU will now head home to Fayette to host Bethel (Kan.) College this Friday at 5pm at Davis Field in their 2015 regular season home opener.
