FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist earned its first Heart of America Athletic Conference win Sunday with a 3-0 triumph over Avila (Mo.) at Davis Field.
Central Methodist (7-5, 1-1) scored first in the third minute when Daniel Arrazola struck a free kick from 30 yards out into the back of the net, his seventh goal this season. The Green and Black scored an insurance goal in the 26th minute when Guilherme da Silveira found the back of the net from 21 yards out for the third time this season with an assist by Kendell Campbell.
Central Methodist goalkeeper Carlos Ribera (6-4) made two saves in 90 minutes.
Avila netminder Jesus Revilla (6-2-1) recorded three saves in 90 minutes.
Central Methodist outshot Avila, 15-8, and held a 5-0 edge in corner kicks.
The Green and Black travel to No. 17 Missouri Valley on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 8 p.m. CT.
