FAYETTE, Mo. - William Woods (Mo.) ended Central Methodist's two-match win streak Wednesday evening with a 3-1 victory, a night after severe weather forced the contest to be moved from Fulton, Mo., to Davis Field.
Brett Hodges served a pass to Alex Severino in the ninth minute, whose header gave William Woods (5-0-1) a 1-0 advantage. The goal was the first allowed by the Eagles in three matches. A Paulo Conelian free kick in the 11th minute found the back of the net for a 2-0 Owls' lead. The visitor's final goal came in the 78th minute when Sebastian Burich struck a ball from 12 yards out.
Central Methodist broke through in the 87th minute when a Daniel Arrazola, who was named HAAC Offensive Player of the Week on Monday, cross found the head of Tyler Neis, who beat reigning NAIA and AMC Defensive Player of the Week netminder Conor Cable. The Eagles goal ended William Wood's streak of 357:58 without allowing a goal.
Cable (5-0-1) played the entire match, making four saves.
Arrazola and Santiago Padruno each had two shots on goal.
Goalkeeper Carlos Ribera (3-2) played the first half for the Green and Black, recording three saves. Andrew Bare was in net for the second half and made two saves.
Each team recorded 14 shots.
Central Methodist travels to Hannibal-LaGrange on Saturday, Sept. 13, at 2 p.m. CT.
