Eagles fall to No. 7 Benedictine


FAYETTE, Mo. - Central Methodist came up short to No. 7 Benedictine (Kan.) by a score of 3-0 on Saturday at Davis Field.

Kenneth Clarizio put Benedictine (7-1, 1-0) ahead in the 28th minute with a header from eight yards away. The 1-0 score remained until the 85th minute, when a mistake by Central Methodist (5-3-1, 0-1) result in an own goal that put the Eagles in a 2-0 hole. With the Eagles pushing forward, Benedictine's Jade Mesias was able to put the final goal into the net on a counter.

Central Methodist outshot Benedictine, 18-6, but all six shots that found the target were turned back by Ravens' keeper Taylor Vinnage.

Eagles' netminder Carlos Ribera recorded two saves in the match.

Central Methodist travels to Benedictine-Springfield (Ill.) on Wednesday, Oct. 2. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. CT.
