Northwestern struck first with a first-half goal to give the Red Raiders a 1-0 lead at halftime. Early in the second half, Catharino tied the score at 1-1 on an unassisted goal. The teams played evenly through the remainder of regulation and the first overtime period, before Catharino struck again to end the game and give CMU the 2-1 win. Junior Corey Schelle (Godfrey, Ill.) posted eight saves in 108 minutes in goal for CMU.
Central Methodist improved to 3-1 on the season with the win. The Eagles will try to win their third straight game Wednesday when they host William Woods University in a 7 p.m. contest at Davis Field.
