Eagles Fall to MidAmerica Nazarene 6-3
The Central Methodist University men's soccer team was unable to overcome a 4-2 first-half deficit as the Eagles lost to MidAmerica Nazarene University 6-3 Saturday afternoon.

MidAmerica Nazarene got on the board quickly, scoring two goals in the first five minutes of the match to take a 2-0 lead. CMU answered in the eighth minute when junior Cesar Golfetti (Sao Paulo, Brazil) scored his second goal of the season to bring the Eagles to within 2-1. About five minutes later, senior Pat McVey (St. Charles, Mo.) tied the score at 2-2 with his second goal of the season. MNU added goals in the 39th and 40th minutes to take a 4-2 lead into halftime.

In the second half, MNU added two more goals to extend its lead to 6-2. McVey scored his second goal of the match in the 69th minute, cutting the MNU lead to 6-3, but the Eagles were unable to get any closer as the Pioneers earned the win.

CMU finished with a 15-13 advantage in shots, including a 9-7 edge in shots on goal. The Eagles dropped to 5-7-1 overall and 0-5 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with the loss, while MidAmerica Nazarene improved to 7-5-1 and 1-3-1. CMU will be back in action with a non-conference match at Central Christian College of the Bible at 3 p.m. Monday in Moberly, Mo.
