The Central Methodist University men's soccer team gave up a pair of second-half goals as they lost their conference opener at Baker University 2-0 Saturday night.

After the teams played to a 0-0 halftime tie, Baker scored in the 65th minute to take a 1-0 lead, before adding its second goal in the 85th minute to get the 2-0 win. Baker finished with a 20-6 advantage in shots, while also having a 10-3 edge in shots on goal over the Eagles in the match. Senior goalkeeper Brent Tegerdine (Columbia, Mo.) played the complete 90 minutes in goal for CMU, picking up eight saves, while allowing two goals.

Central Methodist fell to 4-3-1 on the season and 0-1 in the Heart of America Athletic Conference with the loss. Baker improved to 5-2-1 overall and 1-0 in the HAAC. The Eagles will return to action Wednesday with a home match against NAIA No. 13 William Jewell College. That match is scheduled to begin at 7:15 p.m., following the women's match between the same teams.
