CMU Men Shut Out Harris-Stowe

CMU Men Shut Out Harris-Stowe
The Central Methodist University men's soccer team picked up its second straight win Wednesday with a 2-0 victory over Harris-Stowe State University.

The two teams played to a scoreless tie during the first half, despite CMU out-shooting Harris-Stowe 11-2 in the period. Senior Scott Alvino (St. Louis, Mo.) broke the scoreless tie with a goal in the 58th minute off an assist by senior Mauricio Savioli (Sao Paulo, Brazil). Just more than a minute later Savioli scored his second goal of the season to give CMU a 2-0 lead off a cross from sophomore Murun Altanhuyag (Mongolia).

Central Methodist ended with a 27-5 advantage in shots in the match, including nine shots on goal for the Eagles. CMU improved to 2-2 on the season with the win, while Harris-Stowe fell to 0-3. The Eagles will return to action Friday with a home match against Tabor College at 7 p.m. at Davis Field.
