OKLAHOMA CITY, Okla. - After the preliminary round of the first-ever NAIA Competitive Cheer & Dance National Championships on Friday in Abe Lemons Arena on the campus of Oklahoma City University, the Central Methodist University Lady Eagles find themselves in 10th place with 63.88 points, trailing first-place Midland (Neb.) by 28.39 points.

Aquinas (Mich.) is in second place with 87.97 points, followed by Heart of America Athletic Conference's Baker University, with 85.48. Morningside (Iowa) is in fourth place with 83.83 points and Oklahoma City rounds out the top five with 83.65 points.
The positive aspect of the placement of the Lady Eagles is that only 25% of the teams' final score comes from Friday's round. Each team will compete in the finals on Saturday afternoon, with the squads' scores counting as 75% toward the championship.
The squads will compete in reverse order on Saturday, with 13th-place Stephens College starting things off with a 12:15 p.m. performance. Central Methodist will perform third, taking the stage at 12:35 p.m.
The parade of teams and awards ceremony and will take place at 2:25 p.m.
